LIMESTONE QUARRIES
It is in the Estremenho Limestone Massif
that the main limestone reservoir in Portugal
is located, as well as the SOLANCIS® quarries.
The limestone quarrying industry in Portugal is highly regulated and legislated, in a process that seeks to value and protect natural resources while combining the possibility of developing economic activities in the regions covered. Alongside these regulations, additional environmental and regulatory measures are implemented in quarries that fall within the PNSAC natural park, where 9 of the 12 SOLANCIS® quarries are located.
SOLANCIS® exploits the natural resources that are essential to its business only when necessary, combining exploitation with transformation needs in the factory.
