SOLANCIS celebrates 50 years

SOLANCIS celebrates 50 years, opening its doors to around 600 people.

SOLANCIS celebrated its 50th anniversary on 12th September.

From a stone extraction and curbstone production company to one of the most advanced companies in Europe in the extraction and processing of Natural Stone, SOLANCIS celebrated its 50th anniversary with a ceremony that brought together partners, clients and friends, and with a display of the factory and its quarries.

Among them, clients from various countries and institutions were an integral part of the speakers, such as the president of IAPMEI – Dr. Nuno Mangas, COTEC – Eng. Jorge Portugal, ASSIMAGRA – President Telmo Silva and Vice-president Miguel Goulão, PNSAC – Dr. Maria de Jesus Fernandes, IPLEIRIA – Vice-president Nuno Rodrigues, among others.

The motivation for this “opening” was to combine the 50th anniversary with the display of what was achieved within the scope of the recent Innovation Investment Project – “Manufacturing the future”.

The “Manufacturing the Future” project is now yielding results and SOLANCIS is ready to consolidate and face all the challenges of Natural Stone worldwide.

During this celebration, the factory was the stage for an itinerary inspired by the exhibition settings.

Starting at Point 1, all visitors were able to learn about the new technologies at work, the functional automation and the integrated organization of all processes, right up to the final product. An example of the result of the investment made in technology is the ventilated 3D facades.

At the last stop, visitors were able to see an exhibition of recent projects such as 3D facades with various closing systems, a stone facade with integrated light, with heated stone and even a sensory bathtub, which connects the water with a sensor.

With an investment of more than 6 million Euros, this commitment to the Future also extended to the Company’s quarries, with the results of the Project being presented in films during the 50th anniversary celebrations.

When asked about the Project, the Company’s CEO, Samuel Delgado, said: “Since 2015, we have been investing in increasing the production capacity of the Factory and Quarries, by increasing the level of automation and organization around technology, which integrates all activities. This investment supported by IAPMEI and now being presented, is already allowing us to produce more and better, in less time, and mainly with lower costs: energy, raw material savings and greater safety. I feel that at this moment, and complemented by investments in Research and Development, we are able to respond to any market challenge”.
